Kepler the halfling sorcerer
Where do I start? Kepler is a halfling sorcerer I created for a friend’s Eberron campaign. Here’s the short description:
Kepler, halfling wild magic sorcerer, banned from birthday parties for setting cakes (and hair) on fire. Accidentally.
It was for a Twitter contest, and I got a runner up position for “Best PC”. w00t! (I’m @orcasquall).
My friend said to come up with a background for my character and a reason for journeying to the Eldeen Reaches (where the first part of the adventure starts). So here goes:
Kepler, the halfling sorcerer was born with wild magic in his blood.
Maybe it’s because on the day of his birth, a dragon was seen circling around his tribe/village.
Or also on that day, the 12 moons formed a perfect line, resulting in a super eclipse of the sun.
Or also on that day, a rain ritual was cast because no rain had fallen for weeks, the dry weather following his tribe/village wherever they went.
Or also on that day, a plane (or 2 or 3) came close to Eberron (coterminous?), wrecking all sorts of natural laws.
Or maybe it’s all of the above or none of the above.
Regardless, it’s caused Kepler much pain. For he’s not invited to birthday parties, since something always seemed to catch fire or freeze or move or break when he’s around. As he grew older, he was able to control the magic somewhat but few wanted to be around him (save his parents).
Finally, he decided to investigate this wild magic of his, and left his family in search of magical anomalies. He’s interested in strong sources/occurences of magic or the absence of magic, or anything out of the ordinary.
He heard this piece of news about a village that’s having a dry spell (pun not intended), and a rain ritual to be cast. It’s not the exact conditions under which he was born, but it’s worth investigating. And so he travelled to this village…
That’s all for now. I didn’t know starting a new blog was this hard…

I play D&D semi-regularly. I like magic users (thus mostly falling into controller roles). I tell funny adventure stories.
